Napa Valley’s wine growing region received its American Viticultural Area (“AVA”) designation in 1981, the first of California’s recognized AVA’s. Its unique terroir is famed for its Mediterranean-like climate with warm, sunny days and cool evenings that are consistent vintage after vintage. The long growing season here is ideal for grape-ripening and development of optimal sugar levels at time of harvest. Diverse soil types and terrain within the Valley’s sub-appellations provide a range of grape varieties and high-quality wines, earning it a prestigious place amongst the world’s most premier wine regions.

This region has been growing grapes since the 1839. It wasn’t until the 1860’s that the region’s early pioneers became esteemed vintners. Today, Cab continues its reign supreme in Napa, comprising about 40% of all grapes grown here. Suffice it to say, Big Smooth Napa Cabernet Sauvignon is in good company.

Recognized by Wine Enthusiast in 2015 as Wine Region of the Year, Lodi boasts a Mediterranean climate of warm days and cool evenings from the Delta. This unique climate coupled with deep, loamy soil makes the Lodi wine region renowned for rich, concentrated wine and allow us to plunge headfirst into its bold and structured fruit.

The Lodi wine region is the largest producer of wine grapes in California and has been growing grapes since the 1850s. It was always a wine growing region first, selling its highly coveted grapes to wineries in Napa, Sonoma, and the Central Valley. Over the last 20 years, Lodi has been recognized for its award-winning wines and high-quality grapes, and as one of the leading wine regions in sustainable viticulture.
